Art Club is an extra-mural for the creatively such as beadwork or 3-dimensional, such as puppets or more sophisticated art techniques such as paper batik. This year we started off with a Jackson Pollock Drip Art Extrava Visual Arts as a subject choice is available from as early as Grade 8. This gives students the necessary grounding for pursuing Art or Design in the FET phase.

This gives students the necessary grounding for pursuing Art or Design in the FET phase.

Students are taught the creat drawing, painting and sculpture. Visual Culture Studies and research are an integral part of the course.
Once students are in Grade 10, 11 and 12, they step into the of life. In an atmosphere of safety and trust, students affirm and nurture each other’s creativity. The students are exposed to a variety of media and techniques, so that by the time they reach Matric, they are confiden
enough to pursue their own theme in a medium and style of their choice.


Visual Arts is a window of excellence on the holistic education offered at CBC St. John’s, Parklands and to date our Senior School Art Students have excelled both at a Matric Students of Art benefit by developing their aesthetic appreciation and by becoming self independent creative thinkers, able to manage demanding portfolios students pursuing creative careers such as, architecture, Art education, Art history, Fine Arts, surface design,
advertising and animation.

Art Expos are held twice annually in the fourth term. The Matric Art and Design Expo is a celebration of creativity! It encompasses external moderation, a gala function for invited guests and an exhibition for the community. Once again, our Matric Art Students excelled in 2010, with over half the class achieving The Grade 10 and 11 Expo is internall artists. Parents are encouraged to volunteer their services for these prestigious events in terms of venue contacts, transport, printing, inclined Grade 8s and 9s. Projects could be of a craft nature, or screen-printing.


Extravaganza. We then designed and printed our own Art Club T-shirts. ‘Sacred Circle’ and Art essentially becomes a way Moderation and Eisteddfod level. portfolios. We are very proud of the many Art ivity! distinctions. internally moderated and is a showcase of the talents of our up and coming
and catering and display boards.
